bury them in the river

youre wandering through the thickest green forest outside a suburb in washington state. its incredibly foggy, but the fog sits high in the trees. you can feel the moisture thick on your face. you noticed a break in the tree line ahead. its an open field. you race for the opening, stepping on old decaying wood and salal bushes, small limbs whipping your jacket and face. your breathing hard as you come to the forests edge. you look out into the clearing, the floor is covered in lime green moss for what looks like an eternity. you see a bright white object in the middle of the field, as you walk closer you can see the sun poking through the clouds heating the top of your head. the unidentifiable is coming closer and has now developed a shimmer from the glare of the sun. your eyes focus on the white target ahead. it comes into focus... your brain begins to interpret the image. its a large bathtub filled half way up with the clearest most pristine water you have ever seen. floating on top was the picture below. you grabbed the photo and staring into it you felt immediately nauseous and you begin to lose consciousness. you succumb and fall into it...like a daydream or a fever.

every day i awake to see, a color i have never seen.

Pantalones

we leave for thailand in 27 days. we seem to be taking a fairly stereotypical backpacker approach for this trip. i went out and spent $80 on light airy pants that should help keep my washington state birth blood cool whilst i get hit with the hot humidity bomb known as south east asia. granted these pants will never be worn back in the states, ill look like one of the tribe sitting on khao san road drinking a chang beer with a plate of pad thai and recently purchased (insert buddhist or hindu religous figure) wood carving. to go even further to fit this mold, i have purchased the 2008 Lonely Planet for Thailand which im sure we'll be citing quite frequently when bartering for 16 hour click clack sleeper trains and being extorted by commission hungry tuk tuk drivers.

were still debating the southern islands while in thailand for fear of being overwhelmed by large white uk'ers and nasty old sexpats in speedos, etc. hopefully we can find some charm down there. i think im mostly looking forward to the more northern sites: chiang mai, ayutthaya, and hopefully our side trip to either the Angkor ruins outside Siem Reap, Cambodia or a possible jaunt over the friendship bridge into Laos.

for friends, family, lurkers, etc. im going to do all me 'keeping in touch' and picture posting through this blog, so in case you do not speak french, the small words below this post entitled 'vos commentaires' is where you can click and leave me comments, ask questions, or talk shit.

i still need a new back pack and ear plugs. on it.

boulangerie

memphis dinner. some picatur to share.

i cant wait to get on that plane and get out of here. with these big corporations nestled tightly in the breasts of our government, were hemorrhaging massive cash and the ship is sinking.

im simply looking forward to being in a country where our money still has value (though depleting).

anyways, some pictures from last night, for what its worth.

plans

so november will be spent in thailand. we fly into bangkok on november 4th (election day). our flight leaves at 1:30 pm out of LAX. trip duration will be 19 hrs 23 min. that includes a two hour lay over in Seoul (ICN). two days lost in the air. time travel makes my butt hurt.

well be half way across the ocean when the election results are read. im tired of feeling disenfranchised and i guess id rather just 'cut and run'.

play button

the blog starts. this will be a haven. like Monaco for the wealthy. This will be the place where i come to stash the overflowing wealth and abundance of life experience. I will share fotos i take, thoughts i manufacture, and short stories of present, past, and things that never happened.

like the small smokey bar outside the train station in Napoli, you can stay here awhile and read, linger, speak with me, or you can simply take your nutella snack pack and leave.

if you choose to stay, thanks for the support. if you choose to move on, thanks for the business and watch your bags and passport on the Circumvesuviana.
